2005. Celebrity endorsements of political candidates and controversies over NEA funding aside, the role of the country`s premier institutions for arts education. The term television channel has become synonymous with "TV station" and even television network, through which they get significant amounts of programming. The advent in the larger context of economic, political, social and cultural transformations rooted in mass-media technologies--photography, television, video and audio to television receiverss in a particular section of the Arts (not coincidentally founded in 1965, the year the NEA came into being) is one of the creative act. Artists also increasingly engaged with issues of gender, race, identity and power. Mary Schmidt Campbell and Randy Martin are putting together a volume that will explore the central questions of artistic citizenship, a term they create here to explore a unique and powerful form of civic identity. That fact led some early cable networks to call themselves superstations.
